Information Preservation Assistant - Student
This is a student opportunity for approximately four (4) months.
This position will provide an opportunity for a student who is interested in municipal government, Indigenous relations, Indigenous engagement, archival or information sciences and/or business administration to participate in an interesting summer job in a field that will develop their career and provide occupational experience and knowledge. It will provide opportunities for the student to network with staff involved in all areas of the Office of the City Clerk: Council & Committee Support, Privacy and Access to Information, Open Government, as well as Records and Information Management.
The student will work on historical, archival and other initiatives and events including an Open Bylaws project, which involves assisting with digitizing historical bylaws and a project involving processing and accessioning a large volume of records donated by a local business. It will offer the student experience with handling fragile historical records going back to the 1880s, processing and accessioning archival materials, and transportation and storage of fragile archival records. This position will be supervised by the Historical Information & Preservation Supervisor.
