Position Summary

The City of Regina has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and strategic individual to join our leadership team. The Deputy Chief, Fire & Protective Services is one of two positions that lead and oversee the management of the Department that includes, administrative support, dispatch, training, asset management, safety and logistics, emergency response and management, fire prevention and education, and Fire Accreditation.

Reporting to the Fire Chief (Director), Fire & Protective Service, and working closely with the Management team, you will assume overall management of the Department including the core operational mandate focused on emergency response, Emergency Management as well as all related strategic support programs. Additionally, as Deputy Chief, you will be expected to lead and participate in department or City-wide projects and special initiatives.

Success in this position will be achieved by inspiring, mentoring and coaching a multi-disciplinary team to deliver on the department’s mandate and strengthen the role and profile of the Department in the community. As a leader, you will commit to working passionately, boldly and with compassion, taking ownership and acting with integrity.

The ideal candidate brings a deep knowledge of industry leading practices with noteworthy credentials in Fire Services including a track record of building strong management teams, succession planning, and modern performance management techniques. With considerable management and leadership experience, the future Deputy Chief has strong business acumen with a proven ability to bring positive change to tradition-based cultures as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both within and outside of the organization. You have outstanding communication skills and are well known for your positive corporate contributions. Making sound business decisions, implementing process improvements and effectively resolving conflict is also essential.
